Basic Chrome Sulphate can be used in tanning and retanning of any kind of leather including hides or skins. Due to its properties, Our product meets all requirements of a good leather tanning of any kinds. Uniformity and evenness of color and tanning effect is one of the plus points of this product which is suitable for dyeing to any shade. Leather made with this product is fine in grain and has a good compactness. It is compatible with other standard products used together with this product.
The production of Basic Chrome Sulphate is made from Sodium Dichromate, in which hexavalent chromium (ie. +6 oxidation state) in the form of Sodium Dichromate, is reduced to the trivalent state (+3) by sulfur dioxide. The chemical reaction involved is:
Na2Cr2O7 + 3SO2 + H2O Ўж Cr2(SO4)2(OH)2 + Na2SO4
The product is totally reduced to the +3 oxidation state and has a basicity of 33%.
