HBCD is mainly used in thermoplastic and thermoset polymers which have flame-resistant requirement. When used in polystyrene foam(EPS), the oxygen index(OI) can achieve 30 to meet the stated self extinguishing standard. It can also be used in other polymer systems with the advantages of good heat stability, low dosage, and without the use of other assistant flame retardant (Such as antimony oxide).
