PVPP has excellent properties as disintegrating agent. Owing to its high swelling pressure, high capillary activity and obvious hydratability, PVPP is extremely suitable to be used as tablet disintegrating agent. PVPP and polyatomic phenol can form stable complex. It is registered in USP28 and EP5.0.
