A) Alcohol, Water, Acetone : Very soluble.
B) Benzene : Very slightly soluble.
C) Ether : Almost soluble.
Idendification
A) UV Abs. : The solution shows three absorption maxima, at 257 nm, 263 nm and 269 nm and a shoulder at about 250 nm.
B) Melting Point : 127 - 133'C
C) Chemical Reaction : The chloroform layer becomes blue.
D) Chloride (a) Test : A white precipitate which dissolves completly
Appearance of Solution : Solution S is clear and not more intensely coloured than ref. solution Y6.
Acidity or Alkalinity : Max. 0.1 ml, 0.1 M HCl/0.1M NaOH
Amines and Amine Salts : Must meet the requirements.
Sulphated Ash : Max. 0.1%
Assay : 475 - 525 g/l
