Polyethylene oxide resine are high molecular weight homopolymers produced by the heterogeneous catalytic polymerisation of ethylene oxide. The resins are characterised by the structural formula: HOCH2CH2O(CH2CH2O)nH. Polyethylene oxide is a water-soluble resin. Aqueous solutions with low concentrations are very tacky and sticky. Polyethylene oxide can be used as long fibre dispersing agent in the manufacture of paper, an adhesive, friction reduction agent, flocculating agent, thickening agent and lubricant and so on. |
