Ultracide products are nonionic emulsifiers obtained from the reaction between fatty acids and ethylene oxide(EO). Products are obtained with different HLB values (hydrophilic-lypophilic balance) depending on the number of EO units, thus allowing the choice of a product for each application. Ultracide products have a hydrophobic characteristic due to the carbonic chain of fatty acid and a hydrophilic characteristic resulting from the ethylene oxide chain. With increased number of EO adducts, there is also an increase in the hydrophilic characteristic of the molecule (higher HLB), thus altering the detergent power and solubility of these products in water. As a result, they can be used as emulsifiers, detergents and solubilizers. Furthermore, these characteristics allows the products to be used to obtain cosmetic formulations of hydrating creams and lotions, make-up products, skin cleansing creams, etc. |
