The molecule of Alkopon products has a lypophilic portion represented by the fatty chain of lauryl alcohol and a hydrophilic part formed by the sulfate and ethylene oxide groups(in the case of lauryl ethoxisulfate). Due to this structure, the Alkopon line has an excellent solubility in water, with good detergent, foaming, emulsifying and thickening powers in the presence of electrolytes(NaCl and NH4Cl), which is the reason these products are the principal surfactants used in formulations of shampoos, liquid soaps, bubble baths, toothpaste, detergents for dish washing, laundry and general cleaners. The ethoxylation degree and the type of neutralization alkali used(sodium, ammonium or triethanolamine) confer each product from this line with different characteristics that determine usage. |
