Products from the ALKEST E line confer a pearly shine to shampoos, liquid soaps and bubble baths, thus improving the final appearance of these products. ALKEST E 62 and ALKEST E 62 M are solid products in the form of flakes, which are therefore easy to handle. They have a low melting point, which facilitates their incorporation in the formulations besides saving energy. The indicated doses of Alkest E 62 and Alkest E 62 M are from 2 to 5% of the volume of the final product containing products from the ALKOLAN CO(cocoalkanolamides), ALKOPON(alcohol and ethoxylated alcohol sulfates) and ALKOLAN CP 30(cocoamidopropyl betaine) lines. Alkest E 62 or Alkest E 62 M must be incorporated cold to products from the ALKOLAN CO and ALKOLAN CP 30 line, followed by heating at 75'C to guarantee that Alkest E is completely melted. After cooling to room temperature, the ALKOPON products are incorporated and other adjustments are made to the formulation. The effects of opacity and shine depend to a large extent on the process conditions therefore the procedure must be performed in strict compliance with the specifications. In order to increase the stability of the final products, we recommend adjusting the viscosity of formulations containing Alkest E products between 2000 and 4000 mPa.s. These adjustments are usually performed with products from the ALKOLAN CO and ALKOLAN CP 30 line and sodium chloride. |
