UVSOB 327 is one of a family of substituted benzotriazoles which gives protection against ultraviolet radiation.
UVSOB 327 has a low pKa and a hindered phenolic group.
As a result, the molecule is more stable to acid and alkali, and less affected by the reducing and oxidizing agents commonly used in polymerization and curing.
Also, it is much less sensitive to metal containing ingredients which used to cause iscoloration, impaired performance and other problems.
UVSOB 327 should prove valuable as a light protective agent for polyolefins and cold-cured polyester resin.
A percentage of 0.2 % - 1.0 % of UVSOB 327 is recommended for protection.
Light stability of polymer can be further enhanced by use of a phenolic antioxidants and a hindered amine light stabilizer in the combination with UVSOB 327. |
