C-11 is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid. Its odor is distinct and rosy with orange-violet background. It blends especially well with natural jasmine and rose oil, lending itself for use in clary sage compositions. Minute traces of C-11 will strongly color the profile of flavors or perfumes in which it is incorporated. It is commonly used in fine perfumery, and also in soap and detergent products, because it is slightly more stable at higher pH levels than some of the lower aliphatic aldehyde. C-11's largest use is in fragrances, where it has been used at up to 1% levels. |
