Silres REN 100 |
|
SILRES REN 100 shows good compatibility with a variety of organic resins including alkyd, acrylic, epoxy and polyester. This compatibility with organic resins not only allows for improved economics but also for adjustment of adhesion, drying and corrosion characteristics of the resulting coating. If the coatings are required to be heat and/or weather resistant, the SILRES REN 100 must be at least 30% by weight of the binder. For high temperature (>200'C/400'F) coating applications, it is necessary to use thermally stable pigments. The pigments used frequently in these applications include aluminum flake, spinel based black pigments, titanium dioxide (rutile) inorganic pigments, metal oxides, metal phosphates, mica, ferrous mica and talc. Other materials may be used to obtain additional desired performance characteristics including Wacker¡¯s ADDID 900 for improved adhesion and corrosion resistance and metal phosphates (Heubach, Ferro) for improved corrosion resistance. While coatings using SILRES REN 100 dry to a tack free film at room temperature in 15-60 minutes depending upon the formulation, heat is required to develop optimum coating performance. The recommended cure time for a SILRES REN 100 formulation is 200'C (400'F) for 1 hour. If the coating formulation includes organic resins, generally the temperature or the cure time can be reduced. Please see the attachments for guide formulations for the use of SILRES REN 100 in paints. |
