The key active ingredient in Dermaguard is petrolatum.
Petrolatum has a proven track record for protecting skin from chemicals, including plant toxins, but the solubility and feel of this material has been problematic for formulators.
Dermaguard uses petrolatum contained within a cationic, water-dispersible system, making formulation easy and introducing desirable aesthetic characteristics to the formula.
There is no longer a need to put up with that sticky-greasy feel.
Dermaguard forms a strong, protective film that is an excellent barrier to both mechanical and chemical attack.
It is remarkably persistent once applied to the skin, giving longer lasting protection.
The cationic charge on the system contributes to the strong bond between skin and the ermaguard film, ensuring that the petrolatum has a longer association with skin, imparting the highest level of protection.
