POLYAC, sodium polyacrylate, is used in water-based drilling fluids as a filtration control agent.
POLYAC has temperature stability to 400'F(204'C), and it is not susceptible to bacterial degradation.
POLYAC can be used in either unweighted or weighted systems.
POLYAC can tolerate calcium levels up to 400 ppm, although treatment with sodium carbonate (soda ash) or sodium bicarbonate to remove the calcium in make-up water is recommended.
*Applications/Functions: POLYAC can be used to reduce fluid loss in fresh, brackish or salt water.
*Advantages: Stable at temperatures approaching 400'F(205'C), Not susceptible to bacterial degradation, Tolerates calcium contamination up to 400 ppm |
