GEM CP, a polyalkylene glycol, is used in water-based drilling fluids to improve lubricity and shale stability.
It is recommended for use in potassium- and sodiumbased salt (2-15 percent by weight) systems in areas where highly reactive clays are anticipated.
*Applications/Functions: Stabilize reactive formations, Increase lubricity of the drilling fluid, Reduce bit-balling tendencies, Decrease HTHP filtration
