CAT-VIS, a powdered biopolymer (welan gum), provides viscosity and suspension properties in CAT-I cationic water-based drilling fluid systems.
CAT-VIS is stable in the presence of monovalent and divalent salts that are commonly used in CAT-I systems.
The material does not ferment and it does not require a biocide with use.
