CAT-GEL, kaolinite clay, can be used as a bridging agent to improve filtercake quality in CAT-I cationic water-based drilling fluids.
Filtration control in CAT-I systems can often be optimized with small additions of CAT-GEL.
The free-flowing powder readily disperses in fresh water and in brines.
*Applications/Functions: Reduce filtercake permeability through a bridging mechanism, Aid in controlling filtration rates of CAT-I systems
*Advantages: Functions in all types of make-up water, Requires small amounts to improve filtercake quality, Readily disperses in fluids, Can be added directly to the mud system, Can be used in most water-based systems for restoring filtercake quality after incurring large volumes salt contamination. |
