AK-70, a blend of air-blown asphalt and clay with an anticaking agent, is used for filtration control and bridging.
AK-70 does not require a wetting agent to disperse in water.
Because it is untreated, AK-70 has particular application in systems designed to minimize formation wettability changes.
*Applications/Functions: Stabilize shales, Reduce fluid loss, Provide fluid loss control in all-oil coring systems.
*Advantages: Promotes borehole stability, Stable to temperatures approaching 400'F (205'C), Compatible with oil- and water-based fluids, Does not change formation wettability, Minimizes differential sticking. |
