DRY FLO Elite BN
Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate (and) Lauroyl Lysine
DRY FLO Elite LL and DRY FLO Elite BN, extensions to the DRY FLO PC line of products, combine the elegant properties of prestige powders with the functional properties of DRY FLO PC. The DRY FLO Elite LL is surface treated with lauroyl lysine, while the DRY FLO Elite BN is surface treated with boron nitride. Both products take advantage of DRY FLO PC, a highly crosslinked, hydrophobically modified corn starch, as a substrate. Due to special processing, the treated prestige powders are uniformly distributed on the surface of the starch particle giving consistent quality and performance. Unlike blends of powders, the DRY FLO Elite products approach the aesthetic and performance characteristics of the external treatment. The lauroyl lysine is known to provide excellent aesthetics with an exceptionally soft feel compared to many cosmetic powders. The naturally derived amino acid derivative is hydrophobic with good adhesion properties. When the lauroyl lysine is surface treated onto the DRY FLO PC, the starch takes on the aesthetics of the lauroyl lysine coating. The properties of the DRY FLO PC are also preserved
as a substrate, the DRY FLO PC contributes such properties as excellent flow, water resistance, a silky feel, and no whitening on the skin. The DRY FLO Elite LL, as a result, exhibits increased skin adhesion and increased softness and improved matte coverage compared to the base starch. The DRY FLO Elite LL imparts a prestige feel to formulations that is very soft and extremely smooth. The boron nitride, because of its platelet particle shape, provides a high degree of slip and lubricity to cosmetic formulations. Just as with the lauroyl lysine surface treatment, the DRY FLO Elite BN is processed to take maximum advantage of the aesthetic contributions of boron nitride while retaining the properties of the DRY FLO PC base. The DRY FLO Elite BN exhibits a very lubricious feel, better coverage, and improved adhesion compared to the base starch. As with classic DRY FLO, the DRY FLO Elite products form the crucial powder portion of cream-to-powder formulations. Regardless of the formulating approach taken to achieve a liquid powder or cream-to-powder product, the DRY FLO Elite starches help make such formulations possible. Depending on the desired properties, it is also possible to use blends of the DRY FLO Elite products in combination with each other or with classic DRY FLO.
