Dermacryl 79
Acrylates/Octylacrylamide Copolymer
DERMACRYL 79 is a hydrophobic, high molecular weight, carboxylated acrylic copolymer. Its unique
combination of properties makes DERMACRYL 79 especially suitable for use as a multi-functional additive in a variety of topical applications for skin care. Because DERMACRYL 79 is inherently moisture resistant, the polymer can be used to waterproof sunscreens as well as a variety of creams and lotions. The polymer¡¯ s alcohol solubility makes DERMACRYL 79 the polymer of choice for waterproof sunscreen gel formulations. DERMACRYL 79¡¯ s film formation properties help maintain active ingredients on the site of application by imparting resistance to abrasion or rub off. The polymer film matrix can entrap actives, reducing penetration into the skin and sustaining release out of the film. DERMACRYL 79 also exhibits pigment dispersion properties: the combination of pigment dispersion with waterproofing attributes make the polymer well suited for improving the wear characteristics of color cosmetics, particularly mascaras and eyeliners.
