The OxyChem line of copolymer resins consists of a range of molecular weight and bound acetate levels to provide a wide latitude of formulation variability. Copolymers are used in place of PVC homopolymers because the internal plasticizing effect of the vinyl acetate makes them easier to process on conventional equipment. The vinyl acetate also gives exceptional pigment wetting characteristics when high levels of filler, such as in floor tile, are to be used. Although the resilient tile market is the volume application for copolymer resins, they are also used to make vinyl color concentrates and calendered credit card sheet. In addition, the OxyChem copolymer resin quality has made it possible for these general purpose resins to be used in many specialty applications such as lacquers, adhesives, and compound modifiers. |
