Chlorendic anhydride is a solid with an unusually stable chlorinated bicyclic structure. Being a difunctional acid anhydride, it has many useful applications in the synthesis of flame retardant polymer systems such as alkyds, polyurethanes, unsaturated polyester and epoxy resins. Besides having a degree of fire resistance, polyesters containing chlorendic anhydride often exhibit a significant degree of UV stability and corrosion resistance. - Paint and Coatings - Reactive Intermediates Industrial applications: Hardener for epoxy resins, paints, and coatings. Other non-specified industry: Flame retardant in unsaturated polyester resins. |
