Mark T 150 |
Butyltin carboxylate |
MARK T 150 is used for stabilising plasticised PVC. In mass and suspension PVC it confers adequate heat stability in some grades of emulsion PVC, however, the initial colour is poor. Butyltin carboxylates are mainly used for finished articles requiring excellent light stability. MARK T 150 is particularly suited for the production of highly weather resistant plasticised film, such as roof sheeting. During processing of organotin maleates volatile reaction products causing irritations of the mucous membranes may be formed and it is recommended to install effective exhaustors. To improve the long term heat stability and weatherability combinations with epoxy compounds such as (DRAPEX 39 have proved satisfactory the epoxy compounds also act as internal lubricants. In the melt, organotin stabilised PVC has the tendency to stick to hot metal parts of the processing machines and therefore the choice and concentration of external lubricants is particularly important especially recommended is (MARKLUBE 371 (0.2 - 0.5 phr). MARK T 150 gives highly transparent finished articles provided a suitable type of PVC and lubricating system are chosen. Where optimum weatherability of the finished articles is required suitable light stabilisers such as (TINUVIN 320 or the liquid TINUVIN 571 at 0.4 - 0.6 phr should be added. As an effective external lubricant IRGAWAX 371 (0.2 - 0.5 phr) has proved to give good results. |
