BLACK PEARLS L pigment black is a low structure specialty black pigment designed to impart high gloss and high jetness in printing inks and other applications. * Lithographic Inks: BLACK PEARLS L is a very high gloss, high strength pigment black for sheet fed and heat set lithographic ink application. With its oxidized surface, BLACK PEARLS L has very good dispersibility, good stability and imparts good flow to lithographic inks. * Liquid Inks: BLACK PEARLS L pigment black is applicable for liquid inks requiring excellent flow, gloss, and strength in high quality gravure and flexographic packaging applications. It is compatible in both aqueous and non-aqueous systems. Its low structure imparts high gloss when printed on non-porous substrates. * Plastics: BLACK PEARLS L imparts excellent color in PVC compounds (least conductive carbon black compounded in thermoplastics): consumer electronics cable jacketing is one example. The dispersibility of BLACK PEARLS L pigment black depends on the equipment used and the formulation. It is relatively difficult to disperse compared to many of the lower color blacks used in packaging applications. With its oxidized surface it disperses moderately easy compared to other pigment blacks used in high jetness applications. When properly dispersed it imparts excellent gloss and high jetness. BLACK PEARLS L is a pelleted pigment black with a typical bulk density of 31.5 lbs/ft3 (505 g/L) that can be bulk handled. It is also available in an easier to disperse powdered form as MOGUL L. |
