BLACK PEARLS 1300 pigment black is a small particle treated specialty black pigment designed to impart very jet masstone in high performance automotive and industrial liquid and powder coatings.
* Liquid Coatings: BLACK PEARLS 1300 pigment black is applicable in liquid and powder coatings requiring high jetness such as those for automotive applications. Its small particles provide excellent jetness and UV absorption for good exterior durability. The dispersibility of BLACK PEARLS 1300 pigment black is enhanced by its high structure and surface treatment. The degree of dispersion will depend on the equipment used and the formulation. Good dispersions will require either a ball mill or adequate wetting in a premix of solvents, dispersants and a minimum of resin in a high speed disperser followed by grinding in a horizontal mill with ceramic beads. Dispersant levels required will range from 35-50 weight percent on pigment depending on the formulation.
* Other Applications: In addition to the application listed above, this pigment black finds use in dual component Toners where it provides conductivity along with the desired color intensity.
BLACK PEARLS 1300 is a pelleted pigment black with a typical bulk density of 32 lbs/ft 3 (520 g/L). It is also available in a fluffy grade as MONARCH 1300 which is easier to disperse using an attritor mill or horizontal mill to grind. |
