Disperbyk-167 |
Solution of a High molecular weight block copolymer with pigment affinic groups |
High molecular weight wetting and dispersing additive for solvent-based coatings. It prevents reflocculation of pigments through steric hindrance and therefore stabilizes the color strength and hue of pigments in paints and pigment concentrates. Disperbyk-167 improves pigment wetting, reduces the time required for the grinding process and improves gloss and levelling. Viscosity is reduced and thixotropy is avoided. The additive charges the pigments equally and therefore prevents possible co-flocculation of different pigments. Due to its high molecular weight and resin-like structure, Disperbyk-167 does not influence paint binder durability. Disperbyk-167 has a lower molecular weight than Disperbyk-161/162, is less polar and is used primarily in general industrial coatings and to produce pigment concentrates. It has a wider compatibility to various binder types than Disperbyk-161 and Disperbyk-162. Disperbyk-167 is the aromatic-free version of Disperbyk-163 with the same application properties. |
