Disperbyk 160
Solution of a High molecular weight block copolymer with pigment affinic groups
High molecular weight wetting and dispersing additive for solvent-based coatings.
It prevents reflocculation of pigments through steric hindrance and therefore stabilizes the color strength and hue of pigments in paints and pigment concentrates.
Disperbyk 160 improves pigment wetting, reduces the time required for the grinding process and improves gloss and levelling.
Viscosity is reduced and thixotropy is avoided.
The additive charges the pigments equally and therefore prevents possible co-flocculation of different pigments.
Due to its high molecular weight and resin-like structure, Disperbyk 160 does not influence paint binder durability.
Compared to Disperbyk 162/163, it is the product with the highest molecular weight, and is the most compatible with polar systems.
In new paint formulations the usage of Disperbyk 161 is recommended.
Disperbyk 161 is an optimized version of Disperbyk 160 in regard to product handling.
Its molecular weight distribution, polarity and effectivity are very similar to those of Disperbyk 160.
