ARYLFLEX phenolic polyols are used as resin building blocks, modifiers, or reactive diluents in protective coatings. These new polyols afford polymers consisting of a hard phenolic core within a flexible polyether backbone. The resulting resins are liquid, hard, flexible, water and chemical resistant with superior corrosion resistance. Coatings applications include polyurethane dispersions, two pack polyurethane, radiation curable, and as a modifier to harder resins such as epoxies for use in wastewater tanks, concrete, industrial maintenance, furniture, and plastics. The polyols exhibit excellent pigment wetting making it useful in ink applications. Other applications include elastomers, sealants, and adhesives. The di- and tetra functional polyols combine the adhesion, hardness, chemical, and corrosion resistance characteristic of phenolics with the flexibility, elasticity, and ease of handling of a polyol. The materials are liquids at 100% solids and yellow less easily than phenolic resins. These polyols are excellent intermediates for preparing polyurethane resins suitable for secondary containment, deck basecoats, industrial maintenance, wire coatings and many more applications where substrate protection is required. The polyols are also suitable as modifiers and reactive diluents for epoxies and acrylic protective coatings. |
