ETBE is another gasoline additive produced from TBA. This material is produced with ethanol and has superior RVP and octane properties to MTBE. After over 25 years of use by refiners in the U.S. and Europe, Lyondell's original blending omponent, GTBA, is still a cost-effective oxygenated octane enhancer. Because it behaves more like an ether rather than alcohol, gasoline with GTBA can be transported via pipeline and intermixed with ether blends. |
