SAA-103 is a resinous polyol that enhances the performance of melamine and urethane coatings. It is a copolymer of styrene and allyl alcohol in an 80/20 molar ratio. The high primary hydroxyl content of SAA-103 makes it very reactive with isocyanate and amino crosslinkers. The high aromatic content makes SAA-103 based coatings resistant to water, stains, and chemicals. The high Tg and low solution viscosity make it ideal for improving the dry time and hardness of high solids coatings without increasing VOCs. SAA-103 is supplied in easy to handle solid pastilles. It is typically dissolved in a solvent prior to use, either alone or with other resins. |
