IRGAGUARD B 5000 is an inorganic Silver Zeolite based antimicrobial inhibiting the growth of Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria, mold and yeast. The product can be processed at temperatures > 500'C. Zeolites are crystalline Aluminosilicates with fully cross-linked open framework structures. The framework has a negative charge, which is balanced by cations such as Sodium, Silver, etc. These cations are mobile and exchangeable by e.g. H/H2 O. Special Zeolite design allow for controlled Silver-ion release. The bioavailability of silver ions is critical to the antimicrobial efficacy. IRGAGUARD B 5000 has been optimized for Polyolefins such as PP (homo, copo), HDPE, LDPE, and LLDPE. Key areas of applications are injection & rotational molding applications, film applications, air conditioning, sanitary accessories (i.e. tooth brushes, toilet seats), appliances, hospital supplies and others. |
