8101 is an excellent, non-abrasive purge compound designed for effective removal of contamination from plastic processing equipment. With a melt index of ~0.1 (@ 190'C), 8101 is most efficient in the 300-500'F temperature range. This compound meets the requirements of FDA for polymers to be used as articles or components of articles for contact with food. * Applications: -Extruders -Blow Molders |
|
Set the extruder temperature between 350'F and 450'F. It is advisable to remove screen packs to prevent excessive pressure build-up caused by fouled screens. Blow molding equipment with close tolerances may require lowering the mandrels before purging. In a suitable container, thoroughly wet approximately 20 lbs. of the resin normally used in production with water. Start the extruder at a low R.P.M. and feed the saturated resin into the feed throat. Follow this with 50 lbs.* of EA-8101 fed into the feed throat. Fill the hopper with resin and purge the EA-8101 from machine. Adjust temperature profile to the normal settings, raise the mandrels if required, and resume production. It is suggested that this procedure should be repeated at least every 30 days. |
