Eastman TMPD Glycol (2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol) is used to make polyester resins for high solid coatings and corrosion resistant unsaturated polyester. The bulky side group helps provide coatings with good hydrolytic stability.
The secondary alcohol has only moderate reactivity and therefore special care is necessary to ensure complete reaction with minimum decomposition.
Avoid rapid heating and limit reaction temperature to 215'C.
Available as white, waxy solids, platelets TMPD glycol is shipped in bags haivng a net weight of 50 LB and 20 KG.
