SYLVAROS DRS-43
Disproportionated Rosin Soap
The SYLVAROS DRS-40 series of rosin soaps begins with catalytically disproportionated rosin
derived from high-purity tall oil rosin.
The disproportionation step converts abietic acid to the more oxidation-resistant dihydroabietic and dehydroabietic acid isomers.
The extremely low abietic acid content ensures that the 40 series soaps made from these rosin acids will not interfere with the catalystinitiator system or polymer chain length during the polymerization of SBR rubber.
When the resultant latex is coagulated by acidification, the free rosins remain in the polymer to impart better tack, higher tensile strength, superior heat resistance, and improved hysteresis characteristics.
SYLVAROS DRS-43 is a water-dispersible sodium soap with no electrolyte added.
