Polymist F-5 |
|
Polymist F-5, F-5A, and L206 are white free-flowing powders. F-5 and F-5A are comprised of descrete particles of PTFE while L206 is comprised of loose agglomerates of submicron-sized PTFE particles. These powders are designed for use as additives in elastomers or plastics where improved lubricity and/or wear resistance is required. Polymist powders can be used at constant temperatures from -190'C to 260'C (-310'F to 500'F). Polymist F-5, F-5A, and L206 powders have been specially treated during processing to provide a finely divided product which will not agglomerate and can easily be dispersed in a dry or liquid compound. Elastomeric parts containing Polymist lubricant powders have shown improved lubricity and reduced friction and wear when compared with similar parts made without this additive. Typically 5 to 50% (by weight) can be added to elastomeric compounds in order to achieve the desired properties. These compounds have been prepared with no fibrillation or agglomeration. Improvements in tear strength, abrasion resistance, and flex life have been measured when 10 phr or more of Polymist are incorporated in fluoro-elastomers, fluoro-silicones, EPDM, neoprene, and SBR elastomeric compounds. |
