Aztec TBPB |
|
Aztec TBPB is a 98% pure liquid tert-butyl peroxybenzoate peroxide, also know as PB or t-butyl perbenzoate, CAS number 614-45-9. Aztec TBPB is used as a catalyst for crosslinking a variety of synthetic rubbers including EPR, EPDM, EVA, NBR, polychloroprene, PVC, chlorosulfonated polyethylene, SBR, polyurethane, and silicone. Typical dosages range from 0.5 to 5.0 phr depending on polymer type and filler loadings. Not to be used for carbon black loaded compounds - non-black fillers only (carbon black loaded compounds will result in severe scorch and precure). TBPB provides compounders with faster cures (or lower temperature cures) in peroxide-cured materials. As a frame of reference, dicumyl peroxide has a 10 hr. half-life temperature of 116¡ÆC the very fast curing 3,3,5- trimethylcyclohexane (Luperco 231) has a 10 hr. half-life temperature of 94'C. TBPB essentially falls in the middle as to cure rate. |
