Accelerator 40B |
|
Accelerator 40B is a moderate secondary accelerator in combination with thiazoles and sulfenamides in natural or synthetic rubbers. Used alone it is excellent for accelerating the cure of hard rubber (ebonite) because of the quick set-up (fast scorch) but slow development in cure rate that prevents the exothermic eaction that occurs in thick, hard-rubber parts. Accelerator 40B can also be used as part of a thiadiazole cure system in CPE (along with agnesium hydroxide and a thiadiazole like Echo S). It also has FDA acceptability under Section 177.2600, Rubber Articles Intended for Repeated Fod Contact (it does, however, result in a somewhat bitter taste in products) Vulcanizates produced ith Accelerator 40B have outstanding mechanical properties. For this reason it is preferred for products that are subjected to severe dynamic stress. Natural rubbers have little tendency to reversion. |
