EPI-CURE P-301
Imidazole adduct
Standard grades, EPI-CURE P-101 (an imidazole adduct), P-104 and P-108 (accelerated dicyandiamide curing agents), have acceptable physical stability if properly handled.
They remain in a free flowing powder form, with careful inventory management, shipping, and storage to avoid exposure to high temperature and moisture.
Unfortunately, inadvertent exposure to excessively high temperature, greater than about 95'F (35'C), or exposure to high humidity conditions, can lead to some sintering/solidification.
While this solidification does not chemically modify the curing agents, it is important that they be in a finely divided powder form so they can be uniformly dispersed into coating powder systems.
Non-uniform dispersion could lead to powder coatings with inconsistent performance and/or gel particles.
We have recently developed an improved series of curatives which has much greater tolerance to exposure to higher temperatures.
They can retain their free-flowing powder characteristics, even when held for prolonged time at temperature up to 104'F (40'C).
