BEESWAX |
Natural occurring wax |
Akrochem Beeswax is a natural occurring wax, secreted by the common honey bee. It consists chiefly of a mixture of crude cerotic acid [CH3(CH2)24COOH] and myricin, an ester of myricyl alcohol and myricyl palmitate (palmitic acid). Akrochem's Yellow Refined Beeswax is firm and non-greasy to the touch. It is used in rubber compounding (1-2%) to improve the surface finish of molded goods and as a mold release and a mold lubricant. Akrochem Beeswax is especially effective as an internal mold release agent in compounds of all types. It does not affect processing safety, cure rate or cured physical properties, and does not interfere with adhesion to metal when used at typical levels (up to 2 phr). Akrochem Light Yellow Refined Beeswax is available in slab form in 55 lb. cartons. |
