offers a combination of low specific gravity, high permanence, low volatility and excellent low temperature properties in polyvinyl chloride formulations. Heat and light stability of materials plasticized with PX-209 are comparable to dioctyl adipate. Diisononyl Adipate is commonly used in combination with other plasticizers in such items as upholstery stocks, garden hose, tubing, gasketing, food packaging film and electrical insulation: and such compositions will exhibit superior low temperature flexibility, good "hand" and "drape," low volatility and low water extraction. Vinyl dispersions containing moderate amounts of PX-209 exhibit low initial viscosities and relatively good viscosity stability over long periods of time and such blends will afford easier processing characteristics. PX-209 is compatible with nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, cellulose acetate butyrate and may be used advantageously with most synthetic rubbers. It has limited compatibility with polystyrene, polyvinyl butyral and cellulose acetate. |
