Magnesium Chemicals Flame Refcardant Fillers AluChem's HYDRACARB is a hydrated magnesium calcium carbonate with a mean particle size of 0.4 microns, a brightness of 95+ and a total loss on ignition of 53%. HYDRACARB provides an alternative to the more expensive fine precipitated aluminas. HYDRACARB's ultrafine, platey particles are very similar to hydromagnesite. By being partially hydrated, the combined effect of both water and carbon dioxide being released at elevated temperatures is achieved. The evolution of carbon dioxide during decomposition has a similar diluent effect to that of water provided the temperature and rate of decomposition are comparable. HYDRACARB is currently available as a standard 0.4 micron product, uncoated or coated with isostearic acid for improved processability. |
