Fiberglas FLAKEGLAS reinforcements, produced by Owens Corning Fiberglas, are thin glass flakes that have been hammermilled through a designated screen size.
These flakes are manufactured from chemical resistant "C" glass.
There are two products 1/8inches and 1/64inches.
These flakes have extremely high stiffness at low loading levels versus other reinforcements.
Unlike micaceous products, the FLAKEGLAS reinforcement does not delaminate under stress.
NYCO applies a chemical surface treatment, through a proprietary process, to these FLAKEGLAS reinforcements.
The resultant Chemically Modified FLAKEGLAS exhibits:
improved flow characteristics
less air entrapment
improved wet-out and dispersion
improved strength properties
low permeability to moisture and solvents
improved surface
