|
These long, fine fibers maintain the ability to reinforce composite plastics, rubbers and various coatings exposed to extremes of temperature, solvent and mechanical shock. FIBERKAL fibrous calcined kaolin is processed from kaolinite, into a very fine, ceramic type thread with an average diameter of three microns. These fibers are subsequently chopped to various lengths, which give aspect ratios in the range of 6,000 to 25,000. These fibers are characterized by high tensile and flexural strengths that are maintained over a wide temperature range. Other outstanding properties include excellent chemical resistance, inertness, nontoxicity and good color. In many applications, this material makes an excellent replacement for asbestos. |
