DOW CORNING Q2-7119 Fluid |

For Rim Internal Release A functional silicone fluid which reacts similarly to carboxylic acid. It is a clear fluid at room temperature, its equivalent weight is 2800, its viscosity is 250 centistokes, its specific gravity is 0.98, and its refractive index is 1.41. It has a rather distinctive odor, but this odor is not present in the molded part. The usable shelf life has not been determined, but it appears to be at least one year from the date of manufacture. The physical properties of urethanes conjbaining DOW CORNING Q2-7119 fluid have not been sufficiently tested to draw any final conclusions. However, preliminary tests show only slight losses in tensile and modulus at concentrations of 5 phr. On the basis of some accelerated paint aging tests, as well as some partially completed Florida paint aging studies, polyurethanes containing DOW CORNING Q2-7119 fluid are paintable with only a normal cleaning of the part. If painting problems should arise it may be possible to eliminate them by using a paint additive to increase the wettability. Release Testing Procedure: DOW CORNING has completed considerable testing of silicone and organic additives for RIM internal release.
