CPW-160
CPW-125-HS and CPW-160 are 125C and 160C softening point, chlorinated paraffin waxes containing 71% and 74% chlorine (by weight), respectively.
These products are useful in rubber and plastic compounds as a very efficient flame retardant and in addition function as a plasticizer and extender. They are an excellent source of chlorine as a synergist with antimony oxide in flame retardant systems.
CPW-125-HS and CPW-160 are available in fine (50 mesh) powder form. The powdered form is a desirable physical form for many plastic compounds, especially polyester resins.
The high chlorine content provides optimum flame resistance at relatively low concentrations. In addition, the resin form often provides improved physical properties and non-drip characteristics compared to the halogenated products.
CPW-160, with its high softening point, is finding applications in olefins, styrenes, adhesives, wire and cable, and other flame retardant areas.
