ALCAN FLAMTARD S represents an alternative to antimony trioxide - based products as an effective flame retardant additive in plastics and rubbers.
It offers the additional benefits of reduced smoke emission on combustion and low carbon monoxide evolution. This product is of a low order of toxicity.
FLAMTARD S is formulated for use with halogenated polymers at loadings between 1 and 5 pphr. In non-halogenated systems, it is recommended that FLAMTARD S be used with supplementary halogen compounds eg. chlorinated paraffin waxes, at similar loadings and ratios to those used for antimony trioxide-based formulations. FLAMTARD S is espcially formulated to provide excellent flame retardancy with good smoke suppression.
The low loadings recommended facilitate retention of product physical properties. FLAMTARD S is thermally stable in all polymer systems.
Compared to FLAMTARD H it gives greater fire retardancy and reduces still further smoke emission and carbon monoxide evolution.
