ULTRANOX257
ULTRANOX 257 is produced by reacting p-cresol and dicyclopentadiene in an approximate mole ratio of 1.5 to 1, respectively, followed by alkylation with isobutylene so that the butyl content of the final product is not less than 18 percent.
ULTRANOX 257 is an effective antioxidant for white, trans-parent and colored articles produced from both natural and synthetic rubber. It is non-discoloring, has low volatility, resists extraction by washing and boiling and has no pinking tendencies from contact with oxidizing agents or sunlight. It is especially effective in latex applications such as carpet backing, dipping articles and rubber threads and bands.
This antioxidant is also used in Ethylene Vinyl Acetate based hot melts, thermoplastic rubber and styrenics. Typical loadings are 0.2 to 1.5%.
ULTRANOX 257 is soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, ethanol, methylene chloride and liquid phosphites. It is insoluble in water. .
