STAN MAG Hydroxide B is a fine particle size magnesium hydroxide. It is recommernded as a flame retardant inrubber and plastics. Its high water content (30%) provides both an inert gas blanket and a good heat sink because of the high heat of vaporization of water. It has an advantage over other flame retardants since its decomposition temperature is relatively high, (above 600F.), thus allowing it to be incorporated into systems processed at very high temperatures. Magnesium Hydroxide has also found application as a latent base for the vulcanization systems of chlorinated polymers including chlorinated polyethylene. |
