STAN-MAG Hydroxide is a fine particle size magnesium hydroxide. It is recommended as a flame retardant in rubber and plastics. Its high water content (30%) provides both an inert gas blanket and a good heat sink because of the high heat of vaporization of water. It has an advantage over compounds used for this purpose since its decomposition temperature is relatively high, (above 600F.), thus allowing it to be incorporated into systems processed at very high temperatures. STAN-MAG Hydroxide is also an excellent stabilizer for uncured chlorosulfonated polyethylene sheeting. |
