Chlorosulfonated polyethylene Usage : FEAD Belts Chlorine 27%, sulfur 1% Renault turns to Acsium for low cost, high performance timing belts This new generation of chlorosulfonated polyethylene, which is proving to be an attractive cost efficient alternative to HNBR, is reported by the Development Division of Renault S.A. as providing an excellent solution to the pressing need for cost reduction, while maintaining long-term belt durability. Timing belts of Acsium, manufactured by Gates Europe, have been specified for Renault's D7F 1.2 (1200 cc) engine which is standard equipment in new engines for both the Clio and Twingo ranges.
Best cost/performance ratio in its class Under dynamic test conditions and performance-in-use over the past five years, Acsium demonstrates outstanding flex, abrasion and ozone resistance over a broad temperature range. Acsium also performed well in fatigue tests up to 120'C (248'F), offering temperature resistance comparable with competitive material, at lower cost. Assurance of supply In response to increasing demand for the chlorosulfonated polyethylene, DuPont Dow Elastomers has assured customers of long-term worldwide supply of Acsium from its manufacturing plant in the USA. The company has the capacity to meet all current and future needs for the product from new and existing automotive customers. |
