Trigonal 15 is a liquid benzoineether formulation which is recommended as UV initiator for the photopolymerization of unsaturated polyester resins, acrylates and methacrylates.
Trigonal 15 has especially been developed for the UV curing of UP resin based bodyfillers.
Trigonal 15 gifes in for this kind of applications most commonly used UP resin/riller combinations a long pot life and a fast cure under a high pressure UV lamp.
For the UV curing a UV light source should be used of which the emission spectrum is optimal for te application area.
Very suitable for this kind of applications are high pressure UV lamps with an output of 1000-4000 Watt and an optimal emission at 320-360nm.
The cure speed of UV sensitized UP bodyfillers in apart from the choice of the UV lamp also strongly influencd by the distance of the UV lamp to the godyfiller surface.
The layer thickness which can be cured is in eneral limited to 30-75 microns, this is caused by the presence of the fillers, which makres the bodyfiller layers limited transparent for UV light. |
